Women nominated for the Spike TV Scream Awards 2009

The 2009 Spike TV Scream Awards will air on Spike Oct. 27th, 2009 at 10PM/9C, and you have a vote in who gets an award. Pretty/Scary is on the nomination committee, so while we tried to get the most deserving women on the voting ballot, not one female any category except as 'actress'. That's right, not even Catherine Hardwicke made it into Best Director for Twilight, but Michael Bay did for Transformers 2.

In any case, there are a few cool nominees that we're excited about...

Best Female Breakout Performance gets a surprising nominee in Lorna Raver (the old gypsy) from Drag Me To Hell, as well as the young Lina Leandersson from Let The Right One In. Raver is also nominated for Best Villain (the only woman in that category). There are Best Cameo category nods to Winona Ryder in Star Trek and Kate Beckinsale's mindless appearance in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. You can also vote for Best Fantasy Actress and Best Science Fiction Actress. Check out the best Horror Actress nominees below and cast your vote!

Best Horror Actress Nominees:

Jennifer Carpenter in Quarantine

Jaime King in My Bloody Valentine

Lina Leandersson in Let The Right One In

Alison Lohman in Drag Me To Hell

Anna Paquin in True Blood

Monica Potter in Last House on the Left

"Getting nominated for kissing a Vulcan is a better fate than logic," said “Star Trek’s” Zoe Saldana after getting word she received two “SCREAM” Awards nominations for Best Breakout Performance: Female and Best Science Fiction Actress.
