I was going to write this whole big thing about how a blogger wrote about Batman: arkham city and said it was sexist, but I saw this video linked in their article and now I'm stuck.

This is a video game creation reality show IGN ran, and this shows the most sexist highlights:

Shock

The only thing sadder than those basement dwelling bozos who's only intimate contact with a woman was a stealth snapshot of a cosplayer's ass at a comic convention is the female judge DOESN'T SAY A WORD about these ideas!! Instead, she hands it off to the male host, who appears as stunted in his development as the game "designers."

God, if being a geek means I might have to associate myself with these bozos through default, I'm renouncing my membership.

I mean, if I were one of the contestants, I would never be like, "Yeah, it's a villain, so it has to be a man. A Rapist! A black rapist man who beats you up and pimps you out to his friends! yeah! Or if he's white he has to wear a wifebeater and live in a trailer! It should wield a giant hard rod that shoots an acidic, poisonous substance all over you!"

It's so weird to hear the guys talk about the dominatrix feminist villain like it makes sense.

I think it's not really a good video game character, either. I'd be like, "It's an evil unicorn that shoots flames out of it's horn and breathes poison." Like, it wouldn't occur to be to resort to stupid stereotypes. Come on! Use your imaginations! You can have ANY kind of apocalypse you want! Why make it a feminist apocalypse led by a 35 year old who can't have kids? (by the way, since when can 35 year old women not have kids?) These guys are fired.

I'm waiting for a unicorn boss that eats lightening and craps thunder. Then I'll buy a new game system. Happy

It's sad to think these guys might get funding to make a game, they remind me so much of the creators of World of Warcraft except they don't even have a successful game to give them a sense of entitlement. For anyone who hasn't seen it, here are how the creators of World of Warcraft respond to someone pointing out a major hole in the continuity of their story arc.

I just watched the game boss trailer... Wow.

Seriously...wow.

In fairness to the female host, Heidi...this is heavily edited...she might have said things...I mean, the video only included two pitches. So who knows what is on the cutting floor? I mean it could be worse.

Yipes! What a bunch of jerk-offs.

I get the feeling guys like these made BAYONETTA.

Let's not forget Blood Rayne, DOA Beach Volley Ball, Rumble Roses, the score of Hentai dating sims (mostly just sex sims involving slutty girls), Americanized versions of dating sims that are pretty much just 3D girls you can interact with using a hand cursor (some of these are very graphic).

Even the Soul Caliber franchise puts more attention on the female characters breast sizes and skimpy outfits than it does on tightening up the sloppy controls. The latest installment is similar to the re-boot of Mortal Kombat in terms of control. Like MK you can go to practice, where it shows the buttons you've pressed, execute a move perfectly only to have it not activate 1 out of 10 times (worse activation rate in Mortal Kombat).

Japanese games also include incredibly androgynous male characters. I mistake lead characters in many of the games for females until the story informs me they are male, their animation is also full of big breasted women and androgynous males (even kids shows such as Naruto have transgender themes). I can't help but wonder if this is having a negative impact on the culture. Causing some artists and game creators to rebel against this perceived flood of feminization by overcompensating with the numerous manga and hentai (even the dating sims generally have objectification as a theme) involving the rape, torture, objectification and even murder of women.

Violent manga and hentai are some of the only places I see masculine men as a norm in Japan.

Or is it more a symptom of an unconscious trend within culture? It's a bit of a 'which came first - the chicken or the egg' question.

I actually plan to get around to playing Bayonetta some day.

Here's a good oddball one. Catherine. I've been playing it off and on with the PS3. This trailer is really made up of cutscenes - the core of the game is this really unique and strange platformer. It's actually a pretty good (if frustrating) game.

That is a very good point I completely overlooked. In the book, A Billion Wicked Thoughts, Ogi Ogas and Sai Gaddam suggest that most heterosexual men are aroused by shemale porn. Americans may just be better at repressing that in themselves due to cultural and religious differences, whereas in Japanese men it tends to come out in their work.

What else could it be but a symptom of an unconscious trend within culture?
