The new trailer for the 2011 release of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides was sent forth today, and we have it below for you to check out!
In this chapter of the popular series, Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp - but of course) is after the fountain of youth, but must also confront zombies, mermaids, and the dread pirate Blackbeard in his quest. The story is an adaptation of the 1988 novel On Stranger Tides by Tim Powers.
The one thing I'm pretty excited about is the inclusion of Ian McShane as the notorious Blackbeard. McShane's work as the shady crime lord bartender in the much missed Deadwood series was great stuff, and it is good to see the man nail big fun roles such as this. It's just perfect casting.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is due to hit theaters on May 20, 2011. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think with a comment below!
Let's not forget the Lovely Penelope Cruz, whom Depp is apparently hoping will also play the Nora to his Nick in a possible reboot of classic screwball detective flick The Thin Man.

"Another great thing about being 70,000 light years away from the nearest Starfleet vessel is that once we finally get back to Earth, we can makeup bullshit stories. Off the top of my head: 'We met Amelia Earhart,' 'We singlehandedly eliminated most of the Borg fleet' or 'Paris and I turned into giant pink lizards and mated.'"
This is not a dream... not a dream. We are using your brain's electrical system as a receiver. We are unable to transmit through conscious neural interference. Johnny Depp's character actually jumps over a shark in this movie, I hear!

As far as pirates go I'll wait for Spielberg's adaptation of Pirate Latitude's. This review is decent but it doesn't talk about the gore and a few other genre staple tidbits. I wonder if Crichton never published it because of these movies.

I'm game for a fresh story...the third one was ridiculously bloated.
Plus-Ian McShane? I'm in.
