List.

Isn't it interesting what this list says about how we define bravery? Almost every woman on this list is "brave" because she shoots a gun/goes on an "adventure"/is in some way active in a masculine sense. And barely a non-Western, non-white person to be seen, now that I think about it. How could they not include Bandit Queen?

Personally, I at least thought Precious Jones would make this list, but I guess enduring "women's problems" isn't "brave."

what a horrible list. several of those aren't heros at all.
my list would be Sasha Grey 50 times.

Okay - Carrie? I think they were really struggling there. And Sonya from Underworld 3? Really?

Neytiri from Avatar? Which one was she? The blue one?

There are so many bad ones that I'm realizing it is better to filter out the better ones. Acceptable to me:

Mattie Ross (True Grit)
Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)
Zoë Bell (Death Proof)
Lisbeth Salander (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo)
Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games)
Nikita (Nikita)
Clarice Starling (The Silence Of The Lambs)
Princess Mononoke (Princess Mononoke)
Sarah Connor (The Terminator)
Ripley (Alien)

For Heidi's sake:
Hanna (Hanna)

I'm on the fence with some of the others.

I think part of the problem is that they are confusing "brave" with "ASS KICKING". They are not really one and the same. It seems like this list should have been broken up into subthemes.

I don't think Zartan realizes the expert he is talking too. Laugh

I always thought Sasha Grey was a little over-rated. She *is* pretty - but there is just something cooooooooooold about her that I find off-putting.

^ Now now, let's give him a chance. Wink

Yeah, there are a couple of movies I like that she was in and that she is good in, but in general I never much liked her as a performer. I appreciate some of the stuff she represents, but never sought out her work. Never saw TGE or Entourage.

I thought Sasha Grey mostly did porn movies. I fail to see the connection with a list of brave heroines.

^ She does do (or did) mostly porn. I fail to see how that precludes representations of heroism.

I wasn't saying porn actresses couldn't be brave, but how does a career in porn represent bravery? Confused

Princess leia
Marion Ravenwood
Sarah from Labyrinth
Mattie Ross from true Grit
Hermione Granger
Clarice Starling
Ripley
Hanna
Sarah Conner

Everything else on that list is a stupid joke.

Carrie? The Chick from Red Eye? CHERRY DARLING from Grindhouse???

They are very much associating bravery with physical prowess with a gun/sword, for the most part. Only about 5 of the women out of 50 aren't wearing leather.

I think you misunderstood what I meant. I'm saying a film's pornographic content does not preclude its representation of a heroic character. In simple terms, there are plenty of pornographic films about women who one might regard as "heroic." I was wondering which Sasha Grey films the previous poster was thinking of.

I did enjoy, thoroughly, the Star Trek: Next Generation porn parody, and I consider all of the female leads in that story brave strong women.

And it was funny because it was actually far better written as a story than most of the actual TNG episodes from the last several seasons.

i was only referring to porn. nothing specific. certainly not TGE, that movie sucked.

the thing about her is she isn't super hot. in normal life a chick like that is totally gettable.
she is cold and she makes dudes her bitch. that's why she's my hero.

i don't like porn that's rough or violent though and she tends to have a few of those.

I am not into rough porn either. I tend to enjoy porn with two smiling, relaxed people who both seem to be having a very good time. Like, very light-hearted. Which is why I think I like the parodies so much; the actors seems to be really having a good time.
