Over nine minutes of clips from Piranha 3D has leaked out of the chaotic halls of the San Diego Comic Con, and we have it all embedded below for your viewing pleasures. Take note! These nine minutes are often over the top, definitely NSFW, and feature the gore and gratuitous nudity that Alexandre Aja has rounded up for the upcoming Piranha 3D.
Spring break is underway at Lake Victoria, and the crowds of young adults are partying up a storm. Unfortunately for them (and fortunately for us), a deep seismic shift has unleashed a prehistoric horde of extra large and very hungry piranha that are way overdue for a good, hearty meal.
The film features a large and colorful cast including the likes of Adam Scott, Elisabeth Shue, Kelly Brook, Richard Dreyfuss, Jerry O'Connell, Christopher Lloyd, Ving Rhames, Dina Meyer, Ricardo Antonio Chavira, Paul Scheer, and Eli Roth. Look for an extra special moment with Roth in the video below!
Films like these are not so common these days - especially in receiving a wide theatrical release. It is obvious that Piranha 3D is completely unrepentant in its exploitation of gore and nudity, and that it does so in the name of having a good damned time. I wish we had several films like this a year. I just hope the fish in the final release look perhaps a little less cartoony. Good times ahead!
This film looks FRICKING AWESOME!! I can't think of a movie that wallowed so gleefully in gore and nudity since Pieces.
But I agree with Heidi. A bit of male nudity (as in Pieces) might open up a new demographic for the film. And it only seems fair.
But the gore.... Wow. Oh wow. The girl breaking in two as she's pulled out of the water just made me shout out. I can't believe all that will make it on the screen.
I don't care what it takes, or how few hours of sleep I might get. I am there on opening night.
This is my reaction as well! I love the no-holds-barred approach this film has.
I remember the "good old days" when people complained about too much nudity in movies; my biggest complaint now is that there isn't enough nudity anymore. We need more of it!
I just got done watching Forbidden Planet and Galaxy of Terror (just out on DVD), and it feels like Aja has tapped into the same go-for-broke energy found in the 80's Corman movies.
The nice thing is, this movie feels more fun than any of the recent horror films I've seen (with the exception of Trick 'r Treat). Too many of today's horror films are simply cruel (yep, I'm talking about Saw and it's ilk), so it's nice to see one channeling the fun sensibilities Corman's exploitation films brought to the screen.
This looks like fun and if Jerry O'Connell dies in a horrible, protracted way then I'm there.
