Why Doesn't the New 'Wonder Woman' Costume Look Like This?

This fan art rendering of a "darker, more mature" wonderwoman costume is from 2008 - and a thousand times better than the shit they came up with for the new TV series.

This is body model Cobie Smulders (muscle tone!!! and real boobs!) as Wonder Woman, with a completely photoshopped rendering of an awesome, more adult, less cheesy, Greek-er Wonder Woman costume that says "practicality, power, and sex appeal" all in one design.

"I really want to see a serious Wonder woman film and too do that the costume has to be taken seriously, a more grounded fantasy as it were," said the artist, at the time this piece was made.

Here's a more recent version of the same design on actress Jaimie Alexander:

And here's the costume after a few battles with villains have torn it up a bit:

The artist has some awesome "making of" videos. I'm posting them in here so you can enjoy their creative process, and also in the hopes that someone in the costume design department working on the Kelley TV series will get a clue and maybe follow suit:

Yeah, I agree it is better. I especially like the torn up version.

Cobie Smulders is in The Avengers film, so no bad Wonder Woman for her. She's already on a mediocre TV show. Why would she downgrade to an awful show. I know, it's not professional to review a program before it's even aired. That's just personal conjecture. But, well, you know...

Well I think it is a better suit, but I really don't like the skirt format and the sandels. It doesn't make sense for Wonder Woman to be fighting crime like that at all. I do like the Pant Suit concept and as I said they had that in the comics so that's not a real deviation from anything. I mean the skirt is ok, but I wouldn't choose that for a costume, that's me though. I do kind of initially liked the other colors as well. I think if they used this similar design and most importantly accents it be very good.

Looks very Spartan..........but I prefer it to the T.V. version.........those spandex pants suck making our Diana look more like a cos-player than an Amazon.......actually if she really was Amazonian Wonder Woman would only have one breast. The costume is obviously influenced by the Teen Titans and highly reminiscent of Wonder Girl......perhaps they are aiming the show at a younger audience rather than hardcore comic geeks.
