One is a monster movie starring Kevin Costner and the other about a tiger terrorizing a girl and her autistic younger brother in their house. They are two of the best horror films I have seen in awhile and are absolutely must watches.

Anybody else see them?

Not I! Have you?

I'm particularly interested in Burning Bright. Just added it to my Netflix queue. The synopsis vaguely reminds me of a book called The Life of Pi, which was very awesome and, for some reason, I'm the only person who apparently ever read it.

Wait, I made my dad read it. He thought it was awesome too. And I guess it does have 1996 reviews on Amazon. I've just never met any of those people.

Sorry man I somehow didn't realize you commented. That book sounds interesting. I think I've heard of it before.

I think you'll like Burning Bright. It's so well executed you just can't dislike it and the fact that the only CGI in the film is a couple of drops of drool from the tiger's mouth is awesome in this day and age.

The New Daughter is my pick for best, most obscure/unwatched horror film of the decade so far and probably for the next 10 years. I dislike Kevin Costner to put it mildly but he's good in this as is the entire cast. The real winner though is the fact that it's genuinely scary and intense through effective film making instead of relying on cheap, predictable jump scares throughout the entire movie. I knew nothing about it when I watched it and at first thought it was a haunted house/possession film but far into it, it turns out to be a monster movie complete with the best creatures I've seen since maybe The Burrowers but are more similar to those in The Descent. It's completely original and seriously kicks ass. Give it a shot sometime.

Kevin Costner is an odd duck. He can just be so perfect in some films, and then so consistently lousy in others. Dances with Wolves was a great film - and then he went and did Robin Hood.

He's a little like Nicholas Cage in that regard. So great in one thing, horrible in two others. Hardly any middle ground.

I'll root out both films. Laughing out loud

I actually sent Burning Bright to one contributor BJ Colangelo and have yet to get a review back from her. Wink
