The newest incarnation of Batwoman, and not to be confused with Batgirl, the leather-clad sidekick of Batman and daughter of Commissioner Gordon in the Batman comic books, is Katherine Kane - a far more mature lead character who basically runs her own show. And screws women.
"Yes, she's a lesbian. She's also a redhead," says creator Greg Rucka to Comicbookresources. "It is an element of her character. It is not her character... If people are going to have problems with it, that's their issue. It's certainly not mine... Frankly, she should be judged on her own merits."...

Batgirl appeared 50 years ago as a side character and love interest for Bruce Wayne/Batman in the Batman comics because people speculated he might be gay, and was killed off in 1979 by The Joker. Oddly enough, this crazy gay redhead version showed up about 2 years ago, but this will be her own comic without Bruce Wayne/Batman. Bruce Wayne was killed of in November, burning to death in a grisly fireball after battling with his enemy Mangrove Pierce on a helicopter. Or whatever.
Of course, since she is a woman in a comic book, she must be totally unrelatable and perfect physically. *
Anyway, Batwoman is gay. Men like gay women who wear leather. They hope to see her dyking it out with other sexy, leather-clad superheroines. They really do.
