I don't know how many folks here ever saw the animated series AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER but it's pretty much my favourite show of all time. It had a truly epic story, richly-drawn characters, comedy and the most imaginative action sequences you'll ever see.
It was also loaded with great female characters, which made the show such a huge hit among young girls.
Now the creators of the show have deigned to bless us with a sequel, which takes place 70 years after the event of AIRBENDER and follows the new Avatar, a waterbending girl named Korra. But unlike Aang, Korra starts the show a fully-fledged Avatar in control of all her skills and, it would seem, not shy about using them.
Now we have a gorgeous trailer that shows the huge leap forward in animation and detail the show has taken.

Sadly, this is only a 12-episode arc, but if it can be as tight and intense as the previous series was at its best then it should be amazing.
Goddamn!! LEGEND OF KORRA is fucking amazing!
It's a much more 'contained' story than AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER. Korra is a bad-ass female lead. How is this show not praised as being a must-watch show for feminists everywhere?
Sites like AfterEllen endlessly pimp contrived crap like GLEE, but I don't think they've ever done an article about LEGEND OF KORRA. Or even AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER, which had an incredibly strong female protagonist in Katara.
Regardless of all that political bullshit, this show is wonderful. Watch it!
