Kathryn Bigelow Is Happier About Osama's Death Than You And I Are

Kathryn Bigelow will show us how Bin Laden died in her new war movie.

Mark Boal wrote the script for Bigelow's Oscar-winning action movie The Hurt Locker. His new untitled script is about a military team that hunts for bin Laden. And now his script has an ending!

The story has always been about the actual team that did the actual killing; just now the paradigm of the film has shifted immensely. Bigelow is set to direct the movie this summer, and it will definitely include the 40-minute firefight at the compound in Pakistan where bin Laden was found and shot to death Sunday, according to NoVariety.

Boal, who is also Bigelow's much-younger main squeeze, used to be a member of the military and has first-hand knowledge of some of the shit that goes down there. That's why The Hurt Locker was so gooooood; it was base din reality.

Megan Ellison's production company Annapurna is paying for the movie, which should gain so much interest now that bin Laden is dead.

HOW happy is Bigelow that they got him BEFORE she finished shooting her film? Very Very glad.

We're just a quick rewrite away from another kickass war flick from that "measured filmmaker who defies genre expectations." You know, the one who "uses sensual and visceral imagery to confront societal mores and lay bare individual psyches."

I'm looking forward to this. I thought it was going to be about Delta but Seal Team 6? Awesome. I wonder how she's going to work around the fact that they don't exist.
