Date-A-Human follows a young woman Allie, a human female, who has had her heart broken by a human male for the last time. Fortunately, Allie’s catlike roommate Ruthie has the solution and sends her looking for love online. Joy Gohring is a 2009 graduate of The American Film Institute’s prestigious Directing Workshop for Women. Last year Gohring was recognized by Filmmaker Magazine in its "Top 25 Filmmakers to Watch" issue.
"We really wanted to take a new spin on love and dating and what better way to do that than to bring aliens into the mix. It is sure to be a series that will be loved by both female and sci-fi fans," said Gohring.
Anne Griffin plays the lead role of Allie while Charlie O'Connell plays David, the human male who breaks Allie’s heart and sends her in search of alien companionship. O’Connell is best known for his role in the sci-fi series Sliders, and as the seventh bachelor in the reality series, The Bachelor. Brook Lyons, who has appeared on Desperate Housewives, The Starter Wife and American Dreams is Ruthie, Allie’s best friend and roommate.
