Jeani Rector, Amber Benson, Sarah Langan, Sarah Pinborough among British Fantasy Award 2010 nominees

Among the The British Fantasy Society Award 2010 nominees are Jeani Rector, Amber Benson, Sarah Langan and Sarah Pinborough, as well as an awesome number of female horror, fantasy, and sci-fi authors.

Rector's The Horrorzine, a monthly ezine that features some of the best horror and fantasy authors of today, as well as fantastic up-and-coming and established artists. Founded in 2009, The Horrorzine has quickly established a reputation as an e-publication that truly delivers...

Jeani Rector, editor of The Horrorzine, says, "Back in early 2009, I started noticing that a lot of ezines were going defunct. The places where people could submit fiction were becoming fewer, seemingly every day. When even The Harrow took a hiatus, I knew somebody had to fill the gap. Why not me?
And then I decided, why limit it to fiction? Why not add poetry and artwork as well?

So in July 2009, I began The Horror Zine. The Horror Zine is not limited to horror; for fiction, I accept suspense, mystery, and stories with atmosphere and good character development. For poetry, I want to feel moved; I want to say to myself, 'I understand. I have been there.' For artwork, I want to 'notice' the piece; I want to feel compelled to stop and study it.
What makes me different than most fiction editors is that quite often, if I feel the story has potential but is not "ready for prime time," I will not reject it outright, but I will work with the author to bring the story up to a quality worthy of publication into The Horror Zine. All I ask in return is an open attitude. Remember, even Stephen King has editors!

When Trevor Denyer of England's renowned Midnight Street magazine kindly allowed me to publish his story 'The Silent Hours,' it brought The Horror Zine up to the attention of famous folk, leading to The Horror Zine's publication of such best-selling authors as Ramsey Campbell, Simon Clark, Joe R. Lansdale, Graham Masterton, Bentley Little, Deborah LeBlanc, Stephen Gallagher, Ed Gorman. . . the list goes on and on. And yet, there is still plenty of room on The Horror Zine for the author, poet, and artist who is not at all famous. . . YET.

And now The Horror Zine is pleased to announce that we also publish anthology books of fiction, poetry, and art, all gathered from contributions to the ezine. The Horror Zine is accepting submissions of fiction, poetry, and art from morbidly creative people. Please see our submissions guidelines at www.thehorrorzine.com. We offer no payment other than a LOT of positive publicity."

The Horrorzine also published an annual anthology. This year’s anthology will be available shortly! It features some great authors, multi-published as well as brand new. The artwork for the book is phenomenal (and if you look closely, you’ll see a familiar name...)
