Thanks to Jules at Geeky Pleasures for letting the world know about the Horror Panel at Geek Girl Con and how we'll be on it!
At GeekGirlCon, October 8th and 9th, 2011 in Seattle, to which we are totally looking forward, we'll be on a“Women in Horror panel, hosted by our friend in crime Hannah Neurotica (writer and editor of the ‘zine Ax Wound: Gender and the Horror Genre, founder of “Women in Horror Recognition Month,” and Viscera Film Festival Judge). She will take the audience on a cutting-edge tour of what is new for women in the horror genre.
Quote:
“People might be surprised just how powerful art and feminism are playing out underground through festivals like Viscera, Women in Horror Month events, and beyond,” says horror aficionado, Neurotica.
Shannon Lark, the founder of Viscera Film Festival, will also be there with us! And we'll be showing a few clips of female-directed horror films from the Viscera Festival.
Quote:
Neurotica believes this panel will show the breadth of influence women have in the horror industry. “My hope is the panel will shed light on the groundswell of women of all ages working their collective ass off to be visible in the horror industry as directors, writers, FX artists, producers, creepy doll artists, and YES: fans! Female horror fans are massive in numbers and not because there is a ‘Final Girl,’ but because the movies are fun–and as women we shouldn’t have to justify our interests.”
We can't wait!
This is the first "we've" heard of it...
