Colin Farrell Is One of 'Seven Psychopaths'

This just in from our newly established Colin Farrell desk (located next to our growing-shabby-from-overuse Stephen King desk): Colin Farrell is reteaming with In Bruges writer/director Martin McDonagh to make a dognapping flick called Seven Psychopaths. No, really.

In Seven Psychopaths, described as a black comedy, Farrell will play a screenwriter suffering from writer's block who becomes involved with his buddies in a plot to kidnap a gangster's Shih Tzu. No, really.

McDonagh has been sitting on this script for years, but it sounds like he's finally ready to go. And he's putting together an awesome cast to assist. Besides Farrell, quirky Sam Rockwell and quirkier Christopher Walken are slated to appear as Farrell's dognapping friends. Can you think of a better pair of actors for this? I'll have to see it just to enjoy the supercool dance moves I know these guys will surely slip in.

Also in talks to join the cast are Tom Waits and Mickey Rourke, who has apparently passed on Sylvester Stallone's upcoming sequel to The Expendables in order to be one of the Seven Psychopaths — probably in hopes of picking up some of the heat Farrell got from working on In Bruges with McDonagh, who is one of the most original voices around these days.

Stop back by tomorrow for another Colin Farrell report, because the man's on a roll. Ooh, maybe he'll team up with Stephen King on a project and we can combine their news desks to make room for a plant or something! Ferns are nice.

I've read this script and it's brilliant. Provided nothing goes disastrously wrong between now and its release it should be a great movie.

And as an avowed Farrell fan in the face of all the haters I think I'm the only person on earth who actually enjoyed THE RECRUIT. Farrell is charismatic and intense, Pacino is relatively restrained and Bridget Moynahan is lovely.

It's not a great movie but I thought it was a solid thriller.
