Cassandra Peterson tells us about her role in Peaches Christ's outrageous new horror film All About Evil, which she calls "A really fun movie."
In the as-yet-to-be-released darkly comedic and demented horror film All About Evil, Cassandra Peterson, better known as horror hostess Elvira (who is returning to TV this September), plays the role of the loving and determined mother desperate to save her son (played by Thomas Dekker) from the clutches of a crazed Natasha Lyonne.
Perterson can only describe it as "if Herschell Gordon Lewis and John Waters had a movie together," and goes on to talk about her role as 'mom';
Quote:
I’m really the one, normal, straight person in the movie. Everyone else is sorta over the top, a little big, a little bizarre, and I’m just this normal mom trying to protect my son from the evil dealings going on. And I’m completely straight and genuine and I love my son adn I’m worried about him, so it’s a real departure. My biggest challenge was trying to keep my face from mugging. A challenging role for me – trying to be a normal person. I had a great time doing it and I have a great part. It’s a big part. I don’t want to spoil the plot by telling you what I do in the film, but let’s just say its ‘pivotal’.
All About Evil will be screening at the Toronto After Dark film festival, but you can check out this clip below to get a feel for the fun:
When student newspaper journalist Judy (Ariel Hart) suspects something isn't quite right at the Victoria Theatre she attempts a hasty exit and bails on her interview with Deborah (Natasha Lyonne). She's stalled by twins Veda and Vera (Jade and Nikita Ramsey), projectionist Mr. Twigs (Jack Donner), and usher Adrian (Noah Segan).
This was shot in San Francisco; which is cool because I live in Oakland which is right next to San Francisco.
We have a tiny; yet supportive film making community up here. People were really excited and happy when this film was being made. I had a classmate from film school who PA'd on it and had a blast. It looks like a cool movie.
The Victoria theater holds a special place in my heart. It's the place where the first film I ever made was shown to an audience at a film festival.
I'm definitely going to see this film when I can. It looks cool.
