'Buffy' Big Screen Remake Dead?

Apparently, teenage actress Vanessa Hudgens has turned down the chance to team up with Sarah Michelle Gellar and bring Buffy the Vampire Slayer back from the dead, according to ShowBiz Spy. Which makes no sense to us because the last we heard about a year ago, the director of the original film, Fran Rubel Kuzui, was producing her own remake with Vertigo Entertainment, and it would be a remake, not a sequel or a prequel. What, then, is this crap? And what of the Season 8 comics out there, with Joss Whedon's input? Would THAT storyline just be ignored?

The High School Musical star was approached by producers to work alongside Gellar in a big screen reboot of the hit TV show but, according to movie insiders, Vanessa wasn’t interested...

A 'source' says that Vanessa "felt that with Twilight still so massive Buffy would not be the best option right now...The idea was to have Sarah back but with Vanessa as a fresh, new character. The project has been shelved for now."

Where IS Luke Perry, anyway? Shouldn't he be in my saturday night SyFy Channel made-for-tv monster movies??? Everyone else whose career is dead is!
