Seriously, someone played World of Warcraft for 24 hours straight and then collapsed.

So a 15 year old boy was playing a video game for 24 straight hours, and the dad only did something about it after he collapses?

Move over Baldwin...there's a dark horse coming up for Parent of the Year!

This was actually done on my original server, Laughing Skull, lol. That idiot has become a complete WoW celebrity.

With thr rleease of STARCRAFT 2 I expect to hear a lot more stories about this kindof thing. Especially out of South Korea. That country's insane for that game.

In fact, I'm pretty sure it was a Korean dude who died after a 26-hour STARCRAFT marathon a few years ago.

I imagine the streets of South Korea right now must look like the opening of 28 DAYS LATER.

lol! You might be right. Korea is HUGE about Blizzard games.

There was a recent huge controversy about how Blizzard was going to implement a version of "RealID". They have players "real names" on records, of course, and they announced that they were changing all World of Warcraft forums to work so that your REAL NAME would automatically show next to your player name anytime you posted. There would be no way to turn this off, and it was going to be *mandatory*.

The rumor I heard is that this was all because of a strange law in South Korea. Apparently, any forum there that has over 100K (or so) posting members is required to have the people post by their real names. As Blizzard is getting more and more players from the area, they were looking to accommodate those laws - universally.

Of course everyone melted down. And I mean MELTED DOWN. There was enough of an outcry that Blizzard pulled the whole plan.

It's amazing to me though that the money generated from South Korea nearly made them implement such a misguided and unpopular forum strategy. Korea is sincerely crazy about Blizzard games!

I was just reading about this because haha I watch that show on intervention and somebody brought it up that they should do one on gamers especially world of warcraft.

You should read those stories god people being jobless, divorced, dying, depressed, children being taking away, etc over a fucking game!

I even went out with this one guy haha it was one date and he was very into WOW reason why it didn't last long. My technical savy friend was like "I would so no persue that Vanessa" That dude seemed kind of off and didn't want to take things slow, plus all he did was talking about Wow and how I should join and everything. He later apologized for his behavior saying he wasn't right and needed to be on meds for depression.

On person commented on youtube that "This is what video games is doing to our children" I replied back with this comment.

"I don't think its necessarily the video games, more like what's wrong with the people playing the video games. Because I have friends that are hardcore gamers and they don't have any serious mental issues. Yeah it can be addictive I think, but I think that goes with your mind and what you do and how you can be productive. Because I'm a huge horror movie fanatic, does that make me want to go out and kill people? I think it all has to do with what you do with your time."

Only 24 hours? I'm telling you kids today couldn't have hung with us in the 80's and we didn't have Redbull.
