Horror author Cinsearae S. enlightens us with this history and description of her new horror novel Boleyn - Tudor Vampire, in which Anne escapes death at the hands of her husband Henry VIII by becoming a vampire - and seeking revenge. In the line of new horror mixing classics with horror elements (think Pride and Prejudice and Zombies), Boleyn - Tudor Vampire is a bright spot that we thinks needs a read...

Anne Boleyn was a very astute, intelligent, and crafty woman in her time, playing a huge role in the religious upheaval of that era which separated England from the Catholic church. She was the second wife of King Henry VIII and mother of their child, Queen Elizabeth I. Many have spoken of her charm, wit, and musical talents, among many other things, which could have possibly helped to outshine her bland looks--although other writers of that day have describer her as having a 'dark' sort of beauty. She also had a very complex personality; fragile but strong, playful but vindictive, happy yet brooding. She has also been known to have a very 'dark' sense of humor.
Henry became smitten with her after meeting her acquaintance at a masquerade ball, and courted her for seven years before marrying her in 1533. Elizabeth was born the same year. As Queen, Anne was very extravagant in her tastes, but was also very charitable. She also played her part in the political and religious aspects of her new title. Even so, her and Henry's relationship was stormy and quarrelsome, as she despised him having mistresses, and Henry became discontent with her not bearing him a son. After Elizabeth, all their attempts to have a son kept ending in miscarriages, and this, combined with their constant arguments, started Anne's downfall.
Soon after, Henry became smitten with Jane Seymour, one of Anne's ladies-in-waiting. On top of that, Mark Smeaton, a musician in Anne's service, was accused of being the queen's lover. Three other men, including her own brother, were tried and accused of the same. Other horrid rumors about Anne were abound during this time---that she was a witch, and her and Henry's marriage was born of witchcraft, she had six fingers on one hand, and even had a 'double nail' on one of her fingers! Those who supported Anne suspected that she fell victim to Henry's cruelties and wanted to find any way to get rid of her, especially since she could not bear him a son, which was why he set his eyes on Jane in the first place. On May 2nd 1536, she was arrested, taken to the Tower, and on the 19th, she was executed.
Although Anne is coined as being "The Most Happy", her three year reign ended tragically, indeed!
Tudor history is filled with drama, deception, and awfully bloody deaths, which is why it became an inspiration for me to create a bit of 'revenge' for Anne Boleyn. All the lies, betrayals and unfounded accusations revolving around her would be just-cause for any woman to want restitution! Having such a love for horror, my muse put a little bug in my head to make Anne a vampire in order for her to get that revenge, which I thought was pretty weird at first---she had been beheaded and would have no way of 'coming back'---but, as this is fiction, things can ALWAYS be tweaked, and thus, BOLEYN-Tudor Vampire was born! I have her death sentence changed from beheading to hanging, and the story is told from her perspective, which I felt was easier to write. She brings forth her brother George (as a zombie) and Mark (whom she tries to resurrect the same way, but he refuses at first, returning instead as a ghost.) All those involved with her death will have hell to pay, and she saves the best for last...that being Henry himself.
