'Tis the season to be frightened.

It's official. I went to the grocery store just now and bought carmel apples for the first time, a skull for the coffee table and 6 childhood favorites for $5...

The Brain That Wouldn't Die
Beast of Yucca Flats
Bluebeard
House on Haunted HIll
Atom Age Vampire
and
Revolt of the Zombies

Damn, I love this time of year. The weather is absolutely beautiful too.

Too early? It's never too early. How would you dress up as Nancy out of curiosity? I almost bought a hanging Freddy and Jason for the porch too. They looked awesome.

I also realize I could have said 'Tis the season to be scary 'cause it rhymes with merry but fuck it.l

Well its simple really, I'm going to get some white pjs you know when she battles freddy in? And the pink flowers she has on the lapels of the pjs I can get that at a craft store and sew or glue them on there it would be so cheap. Plus I can make myself look like I haven't sleep in days because I'm pretty good with make up and I can put the white streak in my hair and I got the curly hair going. Although I would be the chubby version of Nancy lol and only some of my friends would get it because not a lot of them would watch horror movies.

We were thinking this year we might sit at home and watch TV on Halloween.

I'm going to Knott's Scary Farm though - that'll be a good time. Laughing out loud

Halloween night might be spend in the Bagdad Theater, where the premier of The Walking Dead will be screened. Seems like the right place to spend the spookiest night of the year.

You're overseas? Well that's cool you get to see the walking dead over there.

Sorry, should have been a bit more specific. The Bagdad Theater is in Portland, OR. It was built in 1927 and showed movies and vaudeville acts. In 1975, Jack Nicholson, Louise Fletcher and Michael Douglas were all present at the theater for the Portland premiere of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Currently, it's run by the McMeniman's brewpub and shows second run films. However, they often host special events such as revival films (last week, they had a live performance of the Star Trek episode Space Seed by a local theater group, followed by a screening of The Wrath of Khan). The theater also screened the entire final season of Battlestar Galactica every Friday night a few years ago, and even got Katee Sackoff to appear during one screening.

It's no surprise they'd show The Walking Dead. Admission is free, so I'm sure the line will start early. I plan to show up in full zombie makeup, if I get the chance.

If you want to see a glimpse of the theater, check out "What the Bleep do We Know." The opening scenes were filmed in the Bagdad.

Hahah sorry my mistake, that place kind of sounds like Alamo Drafthouse.

That place sounds awesome. Katie is smokin' hot, or at least Starbuck is. I would have been first in line for that Star Trek screening and play. Khan is the ultimate sci-fi villian. Way more literate and intelligent than Darth Vader.

The Walking Dead looks like it's gonna be great but I hope it doesn't put a damper on the already anemic trick or treating hours. Halloween was a lot different when I was a kid. It used to be an event.

Moonbutterfly7, it has it's moments. Mostly, it's showing second run features, but it will make way for some great genre fare. We have several such venues here in Portland, like the Hollywood Theatre and The Clinton Street.

As for Halloween night, I can see the festivities at the Bagdad being pretty awesome, RAN. Prizes, costume contests and lots of other fun events. I figure I'll get there a few hours early, and hang out with a bunch of other zombie fans. Can't think of a better way to spend Halloween night.

Places like that are to be treasured. There are a few in Chicago that are run by horror fans but I'm out in the burbs and it's at least an hour drive but I try to make it out there when I can. It's been awhile though. The last thing I saw was a screening of Evil Dead (I'm so sick of it now), My Bloody Valentine (OG, with director Q&A which was awesome) and Trick 'r Treat (Q&A with Dougherty or however you spell his name which was even awesomer although I got the distinct impression that he was upset about the treatment his film got)

That sounds like a great time though BIgmac. I'd be there early just to hang out with the crowd.

Oh, if work allows, I plan to be there VERY early. And I support such venues as often as possible. I don't want to see them wither away.
