Cody Matthew Blymire stars in 1313 Nightmare Mansion, the newest steamy thriller from veteran horror director David Decoteau.
This Pennsylvania native was at one point a dean's list college biology and theatre student with dreams of becoming a microbiologist; instead he pursued the ultimate dream of becoming an actor and model, appearing in fantasy, horror and scifi films and modeling underwear for the 2xist company--not to mention doing some writing and producing as well.
Proudly presenting our May Stud of the Month, Cody Matthew Blymire!
How was your experience working on 1313 Nightmare Mansion, directed by David DeCoteau, and how would you describe your character Will?
I actually really enjoyed filming it. David DeCoteau is extremely talented and a great friend. David has a very vivid image of how he wants his films to look going into them, so he moves very rapidly. He gives great direction and is very patient. David makes shooting a lot of fun. He also makes the shoots very comfortable, there were a lot of underwear and steamy scenes, and he listened to what the actor was comfortable with and worked with that.
The cast was also amazing. The extremely gorgeous Sara Fletcher played my love interest. She is a very talented and hilarious girl, I am glad that she was my first on screen romance. I made a lot of great friends on this set and learned a lot. The crew was tremendously talented as well. Everyone worked professionally, and I think we obtained a great product in the end.
My character, Will, is a boy next door type character. Actually, Will is a lot like me in real life. Will is from a very religious background and struggles with his feelings of lust toward the character of Linda, played by Sara Fletcher. Will is also a very good and loyal friend to Charlie, played by Judson Birza. Will always tries to make the best decision while taking his friends’ best interests into consideration. Up to this point in my career, I think Will has been my favourite role that I have played.

Your filmography features appearances in a good number of other horror and scifi films, including Frightworld and An Immortal Tale. What draws you to the horror and scifi genres?
Growing up, my family was real big into horror films. They were huge Halloween fans. I almost got cast in Rob Zombie’s Halloween remake, but they switched casting directors. I believe everything happens for a reason though, so I wasn’t meant to be in it. Not gonna lie though, I was devastated and thrust into a deep state of depression for months, just kidding. I believe that my biggest break into the horror scene will happen with my upcoming werewolf film, Hallow Pointe.
I guess I am drawn to the element of fear. It takes a lot to scare me, but I like being scared. I also have a very active imagination. I also like to write. I wrote the opening scene to the director’s cut of the horror film, Thanxgiving. Not everyone experiences horror in life. For instance, everyone feels love and heart break in life. So people can relate to the characters in romance films. Not everyone knows what its like to have someone try to murder them, or have a monster stalking them, so it’s like an escape from reality. The audience gets to experience feelings that they do not know how to relate to.
You studied biology at school, but ultimately chose acting as a profession. What originally drew you to the performing arts field?
I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and a Minor in Theatre. I was originally planning to be a microbiologist. In high school I was a real nerd. I graduated salutatorian and just felt obligated to pursue science as a career. It is what my parents really wanted. I really do enjoy it, but I like entertaining a lot better. I feel I would be content being a biologist, but at the same time I would just be settling.
We are all given one life, and there is so much I plan to do with mine. I want to see a lot of the world and meet a lot of people. The entertainment industry is a great opportunity to do this all. I feel that I can touch more lives and hopefully help make a difference in this world through entertaining.
You had a very steamy scene in 1313 Nightmare Mansion and played a gogo boy in The One. How do you feel about doing steamy love scenes and semi-nude scenes for films (because I can tell you the gals at Fangirltastic feel just fine about seeing them)?
I had a couple steamy scenes in 1313 Nightmare Mansion. I don’t mind doing scenes like that if they are tastefully done, and serve a pivotal role to the film. I struggled for awhile with self image issues, and finally am confident with my body. A lot of my friends joke with me that in every film I have appeared in thus far, my shirt eventually comes off. Some people feel like it is trashy, but the reality of the matter is that sex sells in Hollywood. A few people have told me that I will not be taken seriously as an actor with all my shirtless work, that I am “just a pin-up model.” A lot of actors that I look up to initiated their careers as models (Ashton Kutcher, Josh Duhamel, Tom Welling, Kellan Lutz.) This industry is about marketing and making smart decisions, I don’t regret anything I have done to this point. I like both acting and modeling, so I plan to do both while I can.
What are your turn ons?
My biggest turn ons are honesty and confidence. I feel honesty and trust are the most important aspects of a relationship, if a couple does not have that, they may as well not have a relationship. I am a very honest person, and that is what I look for most. Confidence is important as well. I like when a girl can carry herself and stand up for what she believes in. Laughing is a huge turn on to me. I love to laugh, and I love to hear people laugh. As strange as it sounds, I also like to argue. It shows passion. Tattoos tend to turn me on too. I really like Rihanna’s tattoos. Finally, I like a girl who likes to stay in shape. My favorite hobby is working out, and I would like to share that with my partner. My two biggest crushes right now are Nicki Minaj and Aubrey O’Day.
Turn offs?
Someone who is snobby and overly opinionated. People have feelings, and I dislike when someone is rude to others and brings them down. I feel every human is equal and all should be treated equally, no one is better than the next person. Selfishness is also a major deal breaker for me. I am a very giving person, and look to share that quality with my partner.
Is there a dream director and/or genre with whom you would like to work?
I would be stoked to get to work with Bryan Singer. I love his action movies. He did an amazing job with X-Men and Superman Returns. I always wanted to play a comic super hero. My role model is Chris Evans, and he has played a few comic characters, so I would like to follow in his footsteps. I would really like to play Hawkeye if a movie is ever made with him. I would also like to do a few romantic comedies. I like making people laugh. I have done mostly horror up to now, and want to continue doing horror films; I would also like to expand my horizons at the same time.
What are some of your other hobbies and interests?
My biggest hobby is working out. I spend most of my day in the gym, but it really soothes me. There is nothing better than hitting the gym real hard after a very stressful and nerve wracking day. I also enjoy spending time with my family. I am a huge family guy. When I am home, I really look forward to my family’s Sunday dinners. We usually have dinner together, catch up on the week’s events, then end with a home run derby in the back yard. My family is really big into baseball. My two brothers are my best friends, and I don’t know what I would do without them. I spend as much time with them as I can. I also have the most adorable nephew/godson in the world. Up to now, he has been the biggest blessing in my life. Listening to music is also a big part of my life. I like all genres, but country is my favorite. I soon plan to get a motorcycle license and start riding, this will hopefully be my newest hobby. I want a Kawasaki Ninja.
You're also an underwear model; tell us about some of the websites and magazines in which you've been featured, so we can look them up quickly and bookmark them!
This interview is helping increase my self-esteem, thank you. Up to this point, I have only worked with 2xist underwear. They chose my first official ad for their site. I modeled their Shape lift underwear, and they did an article on me. I really like 2xist clothing, it is very sexy.
I would love to do Calvin Klein underwear ads one day. Their billboards are very sexy and tasteful at the same time. Seeing some of the Calvin Klein ads is what inspired me to pursue underwear modeling. I am doing an upcoming underwear fashion show in Baltimore. It’s an AIDS benefit, in which all the proceeds will go to help fund AIDS research.

Poor Cody! he got bloody in this scene from the horror film Ginger Stein
What are some of your goals for the future?
I would really like to grow as an actor. I want to do as many films as possible and establish myself as a versatile actor. There are a lot of people who have influenced me and touched my life, and I would one day like to meet and work with them. I also plan on writing some more. My little brother and I just wrote a horror script together that we are hoping to get underway within the next year. I am also very slowly starting to get my feet wet in producing films; I am learning the ropes on my next film.
I would also like to do as much charity work as I can, there a lot of people and issues in society that are in need of help. I plan on joining the NoH8 campaign. A lot of celebrities have been joining this and it is a great cause. After the recent suicides and bullying, I think this is an issue that needs attention. I also hope to become a role model to some people, to become someone that is looked up to and respected. I want to see as much of the world as I can as well. I am attached to a film in Brazil and one in England set to film this coming fall. Oh, and lastly, I hope to find true love and start a family of my own.

In the name of fairness, it's nice to see a good-looking topless guy with a hot bod get strung up by the wrists.
A mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work if it's not open.
