Women-only horror film fest 'Viscera' announces 2010 winners!

The Viscera Film Festival, which we sponsor, was created by Shannon Lark and presents horror films made by women from all over the world! Lark has just announced the 2009-2010 officially selected Viscera films. Viscera is judged by a panel of female horror filmmakers.

'Anne Paul's Roman’s Bride' Takes Home Audience Favorite Award from Phoenix Fear Film Fest

The horror film Roman’s Bride took home the Audience Favorite Award at its world premiere in Tempe, Arizona at the Phoenix Fear Film Festival on Saturday, January 23rd 2010. The film’s first public screening was held at the MadCap Theaters in Tempe in front of an audience of over 150. Second Annual 'Horror Society Women of Horror Film Festival' Call for Entries

We are thrilled to sponsor another Horror Society Women of Horror Film Festival in May 2010: Women of Horror 2. Pretty/Scary sponsored their first one, and it was awesome. On Saturday, May 1st from 5pm to 2am, horror news site Horror Society will feature films directed, produced, or written by women.

If you are a female director, producer, or writer, here is your chance to get your film screened to an audience that will appreciate it. Submission fees are $20 for a short or a feature length film. Submissions taken until April 17th 2010. Anything postmarked after that date will not be considered. Download the PDF Submission Form. We'll announce selections when we know!

Pretty Scary Blood Bath Film Festival announces lineup

The Pretty Scary Blood Bath Film Festival on the 27th of February, 2010 in Addison, Texas, USA, will not only have the world premiere of Emily Hagin's latest horror film The Retelling, but has just announced the rest of the lineup for the women-only horror film fest!

U.K. 'Ghouls on Film' fest announces lineup!

Nia Edwards-Behi's women-only horror festival, Ghouls on Film, has announced the initial lineup! Starting at 3pm on February 20th, 2010 at the Mixing Bowl in Birmingham, United Kingdom is an hour of shorts, including films by Amanda Boyle, Paula Haifley, Faye Jackson, Melanie Light and a brand new short by Maude Michaud.

There will be two feature films screening for your pleasure: Kate Glover’s outback slasher Slaughtered and the UK PREMIERE of the Soska Sisters’ Dead Hooker in a Trunk!

In addition to all this filmic goodness, very special guest Emily Booth will be in attendance and giving us a peek at her brand new webseries, Behind the Screams! Full details of the program will be made available nearer the festival date.

Emily Hagins' latest horror film, The Retelling, will have its world premiere at The Pretty Scary Blood Bath Film Festival in Dallas, Texas, USA on the 27th of February, 2010. Director Emily Hagins will be in attendance and will answer questions about her film and film career after the screening.

Pretty Scary Blood Bath Film Festival in Texas, USA

In honor of “Women in Horror Recognition Month” February 2010, DOA Blood Bath Entertainment and Pretty/Scary will hold the Pretty Scary Blood Bath Film Festival on the 27th of February, 2010 in Addison, Texas, USA.

The Pretty Scary Blood Bath Film Festival will showcase a selection of independent feature and short horror films that have been written and directed by women. Films will be selected by Dione and Andrew Rose, curators of the festival, and will be announced in January of 2010.

Women horror directors at Sundance 2010

The 2010 Sundance Film Festival will screen the animated short horror film The Zo, written and directed by Glenda Wharton.

Also in the Sundance lineup are several sci-fi and fantasy movies directed by women, including Sara Elliassen's bleak and futuristic short Still Birds; Austrian filmmaker Pippilotti Rist's LSD-inspired riff on Pippi Longstocking called Pepperminta; Floria Sigismundi's rockumentary about the all-female rockers The Runaways; and Hotel director Jessica Hausner's fantastic drama Lourdes. Female filmmakers: Viscera short horror film festival submission deadline approaches!!

Women with short horror films!!!!: The 2009 submission phase is coming to an end for the Viscera Film Festival, a Chainsaw Mafia and Pretty/Scary sponsored horror film fest for female filmmakers. Viscera works with sponsors around the globe to advertise and promote the selected filmmakers' work. Since 2007, over 25 filmmakers have been chosen to be represented by Viscera, which was founded by Festival Director Shannon Lark.

Benefits from the Festival include a compilation DVD which is viewed by Sponsoring Film Festivals magazines, and websites for potential screenings/reviews from the United States to Australia. Each filmmaker receives a Viscera Statue and all-female productions have the opportunity to receive the Viscera Award, a monetary award to congratulate women coming together to create instead of cat fighting and talking about hairspray...
