John Hawkes Signs for 'Jackie Brown' Prequel

Okay, here goes. John Hawkes, one of the best character actors around these days, has agreed to star in Switch, a film based on Elmore Leonard's 1978 crime thriller The Switch, which is the predecessor to 1992's Rum Punch, which served as the source material for Jackie Brown, which is the 1997 flick that all the cool kids like to remind you is Quentin Tarantino's undersung masterpiece, which, by the way, it totally is.

2011 Oscar Nominations Are In

Debra Granik's thriller 'Winter's Bone' gets release date

Winter's Bone, recipient of the 2010 Sundance Film Festival’s Dramatic Competition Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic and the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award, will get a June 2010 release from Roadside Attractions. This thriller (based on the novel by Daniel Woodrell) was directed by Debra Granik (Down to the Bone) and adapted for the screen by Granik and Anne Rosellini.

17 year-old Ree Dolly (Jennifer Lawrence) sets out to track down her father, who put their house up for his bail bond and then disappeared...
