Diablo Cody recently revealed that the The Evil Dead remake she's been hired to rewrite definitely has a female lead character instead of "Ash." And no, her name is not "Ashley."
Diablo Cody was captured on video, proving once again that she is merely human, by an interviewer at the press day for her new comedy Young Adult and had some things to say about writing the The Evil Dead remake script.
Advance word has been strong on Young Adult, the new flick starring Charlize Theron from director Jason Reitman and writer Diablo Cody. And though I'll take crap for it, I can't wait to see it.
So, recently the news broke that the oft-rumored Evil Dead remake is in the works and Academy Award-winner Diablo Cody is set to work on the screenplay.
It looks like that long, storied reboot of The Evil Dead — which Bruce Campbell has been passive-aggressively confirming and denying, oh, pretty much since the original was released in 1981— is actually, truly going to be made. No, really!
Diablo Cody (stripper/writer) and Jill Soloway (one of the writer/producers of The United States of Tara) wrote and directed a new short for Funny or Die starring Michaela Watkins called Tight that parodies that cable show Hung. Get it? Watch it:
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is releasing Jennifer’s Body, written by Diablo Cody and directed by Karyn Kusama (Aeon Flux), on unrated Blu-ray Disc and DVD on December 29, 2009, - just in time to make up a great drinking game for New Year's Eve wherein everytime anyone in the film says something stupid, you drink! You're gonna be wasted.
Megan Fox (Transformers) is Jennifer, a seductive cheerleader who takes evil to a whole new level after she’s possessed by a sinister demon...
So, Diablo Cody, queen of all that is trite, is going to be adapting the shallow and frivolous Sweet Valley High teen novels of the early 1980's to a film! Its the perfect mix! Cody's inability to create characters with real human emotion and the pandering and perfect worlds of gorgeous blond twins Elizabeth and Jessica = match made in heaven!
The original series of novels, written by Francine Pascal, follows Elizabeth (the smart one) and Jessica (the fun one) Wakefield through Sweet Valley High School - a place where there are only rich, happy white people. As the series progressed, it went the way of 90210 and Melrose Place and teen high school troubles morphed from 'what to wear to Prom?' to 'kidnapped by a cult', 'stalked by a killer', and 'my best friend has gone insane and died from snorting coke.'
Directed by Karyn Kusama

Featuring Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried, Johnny Simmons

Fans of Joss Whedon will delight—four years after FOX cancelled Firefly, they pay partial penance with this well-intentioned Buffy: The Vampire Slayer remake: Jennifer’s Body. Like Buffy, Jennifer’s Body uses wit and comic book violence to observe that high school social climbing is a close cousin to cannibalism. Unlike Buffy, it fails to deliver the dramatic goods or to show more sophistication than a bitchy teenager...
