'Winter's Bone', 'Night Catches Us' nominated for Gotham Award

These two female-directed action/thrillers will represent at New York City's 2010 Gotham Awards.

Debra Granik's Winter's Bone (read our review) is nominated for Best Feature and Best Ensemble Cast, and actress Jennifer Lawrence is nominated for Breakthrough Actress.

New director Tanya Hamilton is up for Breakthrough Director for her urban thriller Night Catches Us, starring Anthony Mackie and Kerry Washington as Philadelphians caught up on a violent struggle with the Black Panthers over a decades-old murder.

The Gotham Independent Film Awards, selected by juries and presented in New York City, are the first honors of the film awards season. The Gotham Awards’ 20th Anniversary ceremony will be held on Monday, November 29th at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City, NY, USA.

Sounds like some real awards, unlike that 'Reaper Awards' bullshit that gave awards to things that aren't even out yet.

I had class the night of the Reaper awards and didn't go.

But seriously, I can see Adam Green and Joe Lynch get their dicks sucked by Dread Central anyday of the week out here, so why make the trek out to the show to see it?

I mean that with all love towards Adam, Joe, and Dread Central, of course.
